Severndroog Castle Group Tours

Dear Friends,

I am writing to you today about an exciting new initiative by Severndroog Castle. On Thursdays and Fridays throughout the year, we are arranging group visits to the castle. These are available for pre-booked groups of between 10 and 25 people for £5 per person. They can be members of an organisation or club or just a group of friends. You will have exclusive use of the Castle for the duration of the visit. We will provide a tour of the castle by our experienced guides. It’s a chance to learn the history of one of London’s “Hidden Gems.” Hear stories about the lives of Sir William and Lady Anne James in the 18th Century. Find out what Severndroog is, why it is here and what it has been used for over the centuries. This building is so much more than just a folly and has now been saved for all the community to enjoy.

There is also an opportunity to see one of the best views of London from our viewing platform. See no fewer than seven counties and, on a clear day, see if you can spot Windsor Castle from almost thirty miles away! Also, nearer home, view Eltham and the surrounding area from a unique perspective.

We can also introduce you to the unique area in which the castle stands and provide a self-guided nature trail around the Ancient Woodland which is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. We also provide educational visits for schools during term time, and for youth/children’s groups during the school holidays. Let me know if you are interested in these.

Our colleagues at Terrace Tearoom can offer a range of refreshments to be enjoyed in the Lady James Room, to complete your experience.

At this stage, you may not have a particular date in mind, but please if you are interested in principle, reply to this message at groups@severndroogcastle.org.uk as soon as possible and we will be in touch later with booking details. We have already had a number of expressions of interest, so don’t delay in replying!

I hope to see you soon
